About Jack Astronaut

Jack Astronaut is a Washington D.C. area-based rock band formed in 2019 by a group of Virginia Tech friends & alumni with original musical ties as a Blacksburg, VA cover band in the late ’80s. The Jack Astronaut sound is driven by a broad range of influences, spanning from classic rock, ’80’s and ’90’s alternative, through current-day rock bands and singer/songwriter artists. The result is a diverse musical style with multi-layered instrumentation and vocal harmonies blended into songs crafted on personal stories and life experiences. Their debut album “Mosaic” draws on material written just prior-to and during the pandemic in 2020, when the band was only able to collaborate remotely on song ideas and arrangements during a 15-month hiatus. Once reunited in 2021, the band quickly got to work on completing the library of songs and began recording in 2022, resulting in the 11-song debut release in 2023, which was a finalist for the 2024 Wammies in the Best Rock Album category, as well for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Band.  The band continues to write and record new, original music including its self-produced EP, “Perspectives”, released in October of 2024.
